Preach the Gospel
This week Libby and I are going to drive three hours and put Abby Ray on a plane by herself, so she can meet up with some of her classmates and professors from Ohio Valley University halfway across the country. When they all get together, they are going to get on another plane and literally fly halfway across the world!
Abby and her team are going to spend over a week ministering to the people of Ghana. In addition to teaching people in the villages about Jesus, they will be helping to physically build a building the local church can use for worship. Also they will be visiting an orphanage distributing school supplies and toys to the children.
What she and her team are doing is carrying the mission of Jesus to the ends of the earth just as our Lord commanded us. “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” - Matthew 28:18-20
“He said to them, “‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” - Mark 16:15
"As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” - John 20:21
“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” - Psalm 96:3
Many people have helped make Abby’s participation on the mission team a reality with gifts of money or items that will be used to bless the people of Ghana, and for that I am truly thankful.
Mission trips like the one Abby is going on this week are made possible because many people work together to do what they can to fulfill the mission of Jesus. The ones who send the missionaries are just as crucial and important as those that go.
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. How then can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” - Romans 10:13-15
So this week and next as Abby and her team spread the name of Jesus and bring glory to the Father, I ask you to pray for their success as they introduce people to their Creator and His Son. I also ask that you pray for their safety and God’s protection.
Thank you for partnering with Abby to spread the name of Jesus across the world!
